On July 15th, 2023 we had a fantastic closing for the Ambos Lados International Print Exchange at the El Paso Museum of  History for Family Day, from 1 - 4 PM:

Live printing and live streaming

Someone shows a preference

There were three activities going on during the closing:

  • Manuel Guerra and Tres Gatos Press live streaming and printing from Guadalajara from Instagram
  • The BLOCK PRINTING WORKSHOP run by Vanessa Ramirez at the EP History Museum
  • Print table and live printmaking by Aron Venegas at the EP History Museum

LIVE STREAMING
from GUADALAJARA

While we were printing live at the El Paso Museum of History, Manuel Guerra and Tres Gatos Press were also printing live in a tinaguis in Guadalajara.

Manuel Guerra organized the US artists of the Ambos Lados print exchange from El Paso, while Taller Grafica Libre  (Adrian Aguirre and Beatriz Rivas) organized the Mexican artists from their studio in Oaxaca:

BLOCK PRINTING WORKSHOP

Vanessa Ramirez of the Fashion Technology Program at the El Paso Community College, put on the BLOCK PRINTING WORKSHOP.  She carved out motifs based on the Ambos Lados prints to make all over t-shirts:

I was very impressed at how nicely the t-shirt designs came out:

The t-shirts had a lot of character

The block printing workshop
was very popular

TACO PRINTS

Aron Venegas answered the live streaming from Guadalajara by live printing two prints by Tres Gatos Press (Xavier Moreno and Alejandra Mares) on a REAL Tortilla Press.  Tres Gatos Press was streaming their live printing event from Guadalajara via Instagram.  Also we printed the "Javalina" linocut by John Tollett of Santa Fe:

All the round linocuts were laser engraved

Aron Venegas also set up on a table to sell his prints:

THANK YOU

A big THANK YOU to the staff at the El Paso Museum of History, especially to Nora Rose who conceived and organized the closing:

PRINT EXCHANGE CAMP

Ambos Lados also inspired a print exchange between young artists on both sides of the border, from workshops sponsored by the El Paso Museum of History (lead by Susan Gonzalez) and the La Rodadora Espacio Interactivo in Juarez:
