Vallarie and Arturo Enriquez are pictured above. They had just come back from the Netherlands where their photo is showing in the Mauritshuis Museum in The Hague, where Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring" used to hang.
Vermeer's famous "Girl with a Pearl Earring" was on loan to the Rijkmuseum in Amsterdam for the Vermeer exhibition -- so the Mauritshuis Museum asked artists to "make their own girl," and received over three thousand submissions. Five of those submissions are now hanging on the wall where the original "Girl with a Pearl Earring" used to hang, and one of those five was from Vallarie and Arturo Enriquez of El Paso. The submission that got all the controversy and publicity however, was an AI (artificial intelligence) version by Julian van Dieken.

We would like to thank the entire staff at the El Paso Museum of History for putting on a great exhibition and a wonderful opening.
And also thanks to Federico Villalba and Miana Saucedo who took the best photos of the opening.
