Summary -- "Corrido" of the Mexican Printmaking Tour

Summary of the 2019 summer encounter of the Mexican printmakers  -- those that participated in Ambos Lados printamakers, as well as others that we met in the journey.  There is a lot of artistic talent in Mexico.

Zaachila

This entry is not finished

Zaachila, just outside of the city of Oaxaca, is the home of Taller de Grafica Libre.  This studio, run by Adrian Aguirre and Beatriz Rivas, organized the Mexican printmakers in the Ambos Lados International Print Exchange.

The Sunday After

Some of the Oaxaca printmakers came to Zaachila to relax at Taller Grafica Libre, when everything was more casual.

NOTE: Manuel Guerra stayed in Zaachila a few days, and helped Beatriz Rivas and Adrian Aguirre with the prints they submitted to the IPE #11 (International Print Exchange), organized by the Green Door Printmaking Studio, based in Derbyshire, United Kingdom.  The good news is that their prints were accepted, and arrived by the August 31st deadline.

Many of the Ambos Lados printmakers had submitted to previous IPE print exchanges (as noted near the bottom of this blog entry).

"MAS ALLA DE LAS FRONTERAS"

The exhibit in the gallery was a selection of prints from Seattle and Oaxaca -- called "Mas Alls de las Fronteras."  Three of the prints were by artists in Ambos Lados, including one of the curators, Laurie D Brown.  The other two printmakers were Diane Davis and Brian Lane.  See more and selected prints at THIS LINK.

NIDIA ROSALES MORENO

We would like to especially thank Nidia Rosales Moreno, who was on the presentation panel with us during the IAGO presentation.  While not a printmaker, she has guided and supported us and Oaxaca artists, since before she opened the Espacio Centro gallery in Oaxaca.
