Oaxaca Prints -- Taos Collectors

In September 2019, a group from Taos went to Oaxaca, visited print studios, and brought back a lot of great prints -- Carol and David Farmer, Joy and Frank Purcell, Jane Farmer and Andy Johnson.   Many of those prints are part of the greater exhibit, hung next to the Ambos Lados prints.

The stencil below of the little girl refers to the murder of students by the Mexican government -- the Tlatelolco Massacre in 1968, and the 43 students that were killed in Iguala, in the state of Guerrero in 2014.

Also as part of the exhibition was a video from Oaxaca:

"The following video document is what is happening in Oaxaca with political protest art, some of which is on view now in the Encore Gallery.  These videos are courtesy of ASARO (Asamblea de Artistas Revolucionarios de Oaxaca), and David and Carol Farmer."
