David Farmer gave the first talk at 2 PM -- "Printing the Future: Graphic Arts in Oaxaca."  David Farmer was previously a scholar at SMU in Dallas, and the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin.

Manuel Guerra and Karl Whitaker gave the second talk at 3 PM -- "Prints Travel Easily and Start Dialog (Our Experience in Mexico)."  This talk is posted on THIS LINK.

Geraldo Martinez surfaced in David Farmer's slide show.  He was the archivist at the IAGO of Francisco Toledo's work, but also contributed a print to Ambos Lados.

This picture below surfaced in David Farmer's slide show.  It is of Maestro Abraham Torres (left, pointing) with his small portable press, making prints in the center of Oaxaca with a small portable press -- "Taller de Grabado Bambulante."  Sam Gardner, an Ambos Lados artist, is in the center of the photo.

Sarah Parker came to our Taos talk.  We met her at the Southwest Print Fiesta 2019 in Silver City, where she made a huge steamroller print, and sold us a smaller print in her Coyol Designs booth.

OAXACA PRINTS

A group from Taos  -- David and Carol Farmer, Joy and Frank Purcell, Jane Farmer and Andy Johnson -- bought prints in Oaxaca in September 2019, and those were also hung at the gallery.  More information at THIS LINK.

UNM TAOS

UNM Taos (University of New Mexico at Taos) co-sponsored the Ambos Lados exhibition at the Taos Center for the Arts.  It is located a bit outside the town, in the south, on a beautiful new campus.  The printmaking department is run by professor Gary Cook (YouTube link).

THANK YOU

A big thank you to Jane Farmer and Andy Johnson, for putting Manuel Guerra and Karl Whitaker up during their Taos visit.  Also to Bob Parker for hosting the after party.

Jane Farmer is a curator, who is currently working on a publication of the work of Jiro Okura (see YouTube video).

She curated a huge international exhibition called "Cross Over Changing Places" (catalog on Amazon).

Bob Parker co-organized with David Farmer,  a previous print exhibition in Taos called "Pressing Through Time: 150 Years of Printmaking in Taos" in 2015 at the Harwood Museum (another link about the exhibition).

At the party we met Sarah Hart, who runs the Hart Print Shop.  She told us about a previous Taos exhibition of young printmakers in 2014 called "Pressing On," and organized by Tim Jag.
