PART 5
TAOS TALK
OAXACA
After three weeks, we finally arrived in Oaxaca. Manuel Guerra and Karl Whitaker were part of a five member panel that gave a formal presentation of Ambos Lados. That panel was directed by Nidia Rosales, and also included Beatriz Rivas.
PRESENTATION AT THE IAGO
INSTITUTO DE ARTES GRAFICAS DE OAXACA
On Friday, August 16th, we gave a formal presentation of the Ambos Lados print exchange at the IAGO (Instituto de Artes Graficas de Oaxaca). This print library/gallery was founded by Francisco Toledo.
The Ambos Lados printmakers came from as far as Uruapan and Monterrey, to attend the formal presentation of Ambos Lados at the IAGO.
THE "OTHER" EXHIBITION
During our presentation, there was an exhibition in the gallery at the IAGO -- "Mas Alla de las Fronteras" -- an exchange of prints between Seattle and Oaxaca. The organizer from Seattle, Laurie D Brown, also participated in Ambos Lados, as well as two other printmakers in the exhibition.
THE STREETS OF OAXACA
Of course, we enjoyed other grafics in the streets of Oaxaca.

DIOS NUNCA MUERE
Unfortunately within a month after we left, Francisco Toledo died. He was Mexico's greatest living artist, and the founder of the IAGO. He was a great printmaker, and supported printmaking throughout Mexico.
